Ilyumzhinov chose between Carlsen and Caruana

The sixth President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov named his favourite in the fight for the chess crown. As you know, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen and American Fabiano Caruana are fighting for the chess crown in London.

Opponents will play 12 classical games. If the match is tied after 12 games, four tie-breaks will be played. If the score is equal after the tiebreak, 10 blitz games will be played, as well as Armageddon game.

“We are expecting a long match with slightly better winning chances for the current World Champion Magnus Carlsen. That is exclusively the result of his experience of playing in tournaments of this level,” the International Chess Club quotes Ilyumzhinov.

“The World Chess Championship is a real holiday for all fans of sports and chess art! After matches between Anand and Carlsen, the battle of generations ended for a time being. Unnoticed young players excel in all the chess Olympiads! Each match for the World Championship is a new stage, a milestone in the chess history,” added Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
