Kirsan Ilyumzhinov meets with Ambassador for Youth Affaires of the Pan-African Parliament

On 5 March, the sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met in Moscow with Albino Aboug, Ambassador for Youth Affaires of the Pan-African Parliament.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. A number of projects for young people were discussed, including the creation of so-called social elevators for young professionals. Of course, the parties could not circumvent the issue of the development of chess on the African continent.

It should be noted that the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is a very important structure for African countries. Incidentally, it will soon be exactly 15 years from the inauguration of one of the key body of the African Union, the Pan-African Parliament, that was held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) on 18 March, 2004.

The establishment of the Pan-African Parliament is a major step in terms of the organizational and political formation of the African Union and the strengthening of the integration processes in the African continent as a whole. The start of its practical activities is called upon to assist a more effective solution of the acute problems facing Africa, above all in the field of ensuring a more durable peace and security and creating conditions for the sustainable economic and social development of African states.
It should be noted that Russia maintains friendly and business contacts with the Pan-African Parliament. The Inter-Parliamentary Conference “Russia - Africa” is planned to be held in the autumn of 2019.
