"Young stars of the world" under the patronage of Ilyumzhinov

The XIV International chess tournament entitled "World's Youth Stars" in memory of Vanya Somov under the patronage of the President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the support of the Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko will be held from 16th to 28th of May in the city of Kirishi.

The uniqueness of this tournament, included in the official calendar of the FIDE is that it is held in a circular variant among the 12 participants and traditionally gathers the strongest and most promising young players in the world.

The twelve players from six countries: Savely Golubov, Sergei Lobanov, Alexey Efanov Kirill Shubin, Cyril Kozionov, Simon Lomas (Russia); Valery Kazakovsky, Vyachaslau Zarubitsky (Belarus); Nakobian Aram (Armenia); Dmitry Kollars (Germany); Abdullah Gadimbayli (Azerbaijan); Nino Khomeriki (Georgia) will meet at the chess board.
It is worth noting that there are three participants of the "Young Stars" that are the eight best chess players of the planet: Sergey Karjakin (Russia), Fabiano Caruana (USA) and Anish Giri (Netherlands). The winner of the Kirishi-2005 Sergey Karjakin recently won the Candidates Tournament in Moscow and will meet with World Champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the main match in November 2016.
