"Today, Russia is facing unprecedented challenges and it is important that the young generation was ready to solve them. Consistency; an ability to first analyze and then do; a skill in doing ones’ job and not losing heart - all these abilities are developed in those who play chess and they always be needed in life,"- noted Ilyumzhinov.

"With the support of President Vladimir Putin, chess becomes the priority kind of sport again. Special attention is paid to the programme ‘Chess in Schools’, which aims for the future and the intellectual development of children. The programme involves the introduction of chess along with such familiar subjects as, for example, literature and mathematics. In those schools, where chess are being actively implemented, children learn better and the academic performance has increased by 40 per cent," stressed the President of FIDE.
