Ilyumzhinov: "Four countries are interested in holding the match for the chess crown"

Four countries are interested in holding a match for the title of the world chess champion among men in 2018, said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to the news agency "F-Sport".

" The representatives of Singapore, Japan, Thailand and Norway show interest in the tournament. The decision to the tender will be made at the FIDE Presidential Board March meeting, which will be held in March, or at the next meeting. While the official application has not been filed, we have already entered the stage of negotiations," stressed the head of FIDE.

"In late February, I plan to visit Japan, Singapore and Thailand to discuss the situation on-site. And I was also invited to visit Norway. I think that decision will be made no later than September of this year," he added.
