Kirsan Ilyumzhinov: "I Think There is no Reason for the Enmity Between Russia and Ukraine"

Chess is a universal language that allows you to talk to everybody, said the president of FIDE, commenting on his role in resolving the conflicts, including the current one between Russia and Ukraine.
"I can fly to Ukraine to hold the talks with Poroshenko, present him chess set and go to another country after finishing the negotiations in Moscow.  I think the sooner we amend the mistakes the better.  There is no reason for hatred and killing each other.  On the other hand, there are the external forces that are escalating the nationalist feelings’ push", said the head of FIDE.
"In my opinion, mistakes have been made by both sides that led to the current conflict.  Take a look for yourself at the huge amounts of money spent on war and hatred between nations.  Afterwards everything would have to be restored.  Sooner or later, any war, whatever it might be, always ends with the peace", said Ilyumzhinov.

The FIDE President was also sceptical about the talks of the eternal discredit of Russia by the West:
"Do not blame everything on the West!  I spend all my time in travelling to the West and East having 186 countries in the Federation.  Those who do not want to work make up such ideas", he stressed.
