Sculptor Natalia Opiok finds Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s image interesting

An interesting interview with Natalia Opiok appeared on the website of the ally state on 12 June. Natalia Opiok's husband is a famous artist Alexey Parfenov. Alexey painted portraits of many politicians, such as Yevgeny Primakov, Sergei Naryshkin, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Patriarch Alexy II.

 

Natalia Opiok is interested in the image of Ilyumzhinov. There is a plaster model of a politician and businessman Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in her studio. Natalia recalls that Ilyumzhinov used to come to her to sit for his portrait from forty minutes to an hour.

“This is very important when you make a portrait not only from photographs but from the original. Personal preferences also matter. For example, my spouse has many works dedicated to the first president of Kalmykia. We have already agreed to cooperate,” the sculptor says.
The editors’ note. Natalia Opiok was born on 22 June 1969, in Grodno in the family of an artist and actress of the Yanka Kupala Theatre. She graduated from the Minsk Art School and later from the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow. Among her most famous works are the high relief “Holy Tsarina Alexandra” (Cathedral of Christ the Saviour) in Moscow and reliefs as well as the worship cross “Sacred spring” (House of Mercy) and the composition “Golgotha” in Minsk. She is married to the painter Alexey Parfenov.
