In the army, Vanchugov survived the August coup. He also, as part of the support unit, participated in the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. With special warmth, he recalls his colleagues, among whom was Kalmykia president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
Employees and military personnel of the Russian Guards in Buryatia joined the flash mob “Served and still Serve” in honour of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Their photos of the period of military service will be posted in the official accounts of the RosGuards.
The start of the campaign was given by the deputy head of the territorial unit, police colonel Ivan Vanchugov. He served in the communications training battalion of the Red Banner North Caucasus Military District. There, cryptographic specialists were trained for the Ministry of Defence of the USSR and their limited contingents in Cuba, Ethiopia, Angola, and Vietnam.
