The participants in the Contenders Tournament play exclusively to win and do not follow the lengthy tournament tactics. This opinion was expressed by the President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
"I am pleased with results of the first days of the competition. The draws are very live. They do not show that the players are guided by the tournament tactics. It can be seen that the players aim to win every game, because the goal of every GM is meeting with the World Champion Magnus Carlsen", said Ilyumzhinov.
