Kirsan Ilyumzhinov: "We cannot allow the desecration of traditional values."

The Head of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, a prominent politician and diplomat recently answered ‘Kommersant’s question: “What has Vladimir Putin omitted to do as the President of the Russian Federation?”

"Not everything was done in terms of promoting the country's image and the rich traditional values we may be proud of, now desecrated in Western countries in their propaganda of homosexuality and other ideas. The President and his team need to be more actively engaged in promoting our country in Russia and abroad,” said the head of FIDE.

In the spring of 1994, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was one of the first Heads of Russian regions (for more than 17 years he governed Kalmykia-Ed.), who passed legislation refusing the steppe republic's independence.
Politicians of the liberal spectrum severely criticized this decisive act of the young regional leader. Although, as time has shown, Ilyumzhinov was absolutely right in his quest to confront the collapse of Russia.
