Everybody knows that chess is a combination of art, science and sophisticated logic. Chess promotes the development of intelligence. It is one of the most loved and respected sports not only in our country, but also in the world. Chess was played by the most outstanding people, whose names are written in gold letters in the history of mankind. Chess is a way of life, a school of life, and for some it is life itself.
Therefore, we all are proud of the victories of young and older generation, of all those who take part in such competitions.
The "Live Chess" project is aimed at the development and popularization of this ancient and wise game and, besides, it is an opportunity to remember the historical past of our Motherland.
It is very symbolic that Borodino Field was chosen as the venue for the tournament. there was a bloody battle more than 200 years ago. I wish that all battles will take place only at a chessboard in the future.
Sincerely, I hope that the tournament will become traditional, and from year to year will attract more admirers of the ancient game, many of which will become famous all over the world.

On 29 July, "Live Chess" historical tournament will take place on the Borodino Field. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov sent a congratulatory letter to the organizers, participants and guests of this significant event. The letter reads as follows:
"Dear friends! With all my heart I greet and commend the participants, organizers and guests of the "Live Chess" historic tournament on the Borodino Field.
I am proud that this momentous and unique event was organized by the Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve together with the Military Historical Society.
