Ilyumzhinov Visits Panama and Nicaragua

As we reported, on June 28th the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Kirsan Ilyumzhinov joined the opening of the 26th Pan-American Children's Chess Championship, which took place in Cali (Colombia).
The following day, the head of FIDE visited Panama. And today, he continued his working trip, arriving in Nicaragua, where he met with the Director of the Institute of Sports, Marlon Alberto Torres Aragon, Head of the Chess Federation, Guy Bendana, and the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport, Miriam Raudes.

They discussed various issues including the promotion of the FIDE program 'Chess in Schools'. Then Ilyumzhinov was received by the Vice President, Moises Omar Halleslevens - who, in the course of negotiations, expressed his positive evaluation of the development of chess in Nicaragua.
After the official events (including a press conference for local journalists), Ilyumzhinov visited the chess school in Managua where he played a series of matches with the students. The Head of Fide later reported on his 'Twitter' account that some of them had shown "strong resistance" to his skills.
