On December 13, a regular meeting of Diplomatic Club was held at the Diplomatic Academy of Russia in Moscow.
Welcoming remarks to the representatives of the diplomatic corps were delivered by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the 12th World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov and Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Marina Tomilova. In addition, the rector of the Academy Yevgeny Bazhanov handed certificates and Club member badges to Ilyumzhinov and Karpov.
After the meeting, which was attended by Grandmaster Yuri Auerbach and the current European Champion Ernesto Inarkiev, a series of chess events took place within the walls of the university: blitz tournament, books exhibition of Publishing house Biblio-Globus and exhibition of paintings.
