On 8th of September, the UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, on the occasion of the FIDE Congress in Abu Dhabi, received the FIDE delegation headed by the President of the International Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the Vice President Andrei Filatov.
Addressing the guests, Sheikh said: “I would be very pleased if every boy or girl, each young man or woman in the United Arab Emirates would always played chess”.
Afterwards, Sheikh Nahyan made a special address to the delegates to the FIDE Congress and then invited them to dinner after which he has photographed with the guests of honour.
In his turn, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with two former World Champions Zsuzca Polgar and Zhu Chen, as well as with the president of the Chess Federation of Burundi, Mr. Deo on the same day.
