The temple, that Ilyumzhinov built

The site "Save Tibet" has released the documentary "Golden Abode of Buddha", dedicated to the history of the main Buddhist temple in Kalmykia.

This temple is known as the largest in Europe, with the largest Buddha statue in the world and the only sculptural composition of 17 scholars of Nalanda University of ancient Indian Nalanda University. Built (in 2005) with the blessing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV and with the personal sponsorship by the 1st President of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the head of FIDE, the temple has become the symbol of Elista, the capital of this steppe region.

Under the leadership of the head of the Buddhist Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche, the "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni" has grown into a religious and cultural center over the past decade, its positive impact is felt far beyond the borders of the republic.
Everyday work of monks and khurul employees serve the noble cause of the revival of Buddhism in Kalmykia soil, putting into practice the ideas and teachings of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual master of all the followers of Tibetan Buddhism in Russia.
