Kirsan Ilyumzhinov takes part in the World MGIMO Alumni Forum

On 18 May, the sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov flew to Tashkent to take part in the Fifth World MGIMO Alumni Forum, an informal meeting of political leaders, heads of multilateral institutions and influential journalists. The official opening took place at the Palace of Symposiums of the National Library of Uzbekistan. The forum participants are united by the MGIMO student fraternity and the years spent in one of the best universities in Russia. The forum was held in Tashkent on May 18-19.

The country's leaders traditionally opened the forum. They read out a greeting to the audience from Vladimir Putin, who congratulated one of the country's oldest universities on the 75th anniversary. The Russian president expressed his conviction that the forum will be held "at a high level and will make an important contribution to the strengthening of humanitarian cooperation."
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also welcomed the participants of the Fifth World MGIMO Alumni Forum and expressed the hope that the Tashkent branch of the university will become a regional educational centre of international relations. The Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov read the President’s greeting:
“MGIMO is a global brand that confirms the traditionally high quality of Russian higher education. Its graduates from different countries are true professionals with deep, fundamental knowledge and broad outlook,” said the President. In his opinion, “university graduates are able to make effective decisions in the difficult conditions of modern global politics.”
The opening of the Tashkent Forum was addressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan A. Kamilov, the founder of USM Holdings, the deputy chairman of the MGIMO Board of Trustees A. Usmanov, the Minister of Culture of Russia V. Medinsky, the deputy chairman of the Council of Federation of Russia I. Umakhanov.
Besides the main programme of the forum, there were meetings of heads of departments and companies. During the meetings, bilateral relations in education, culture, and investments were discussed.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told us by telephone that the Forum had become a platform for the presentation of programmes of the MGIMO branch in Tashkent. Kirsan Nikolayevich shared the fact that within the framework of the forum he met with many friends, classmates and held successful negotiations.
The first president of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, congratulated all readers of kirsan.today, former pioneers of the USSR and all former socialist countries on Pioneer Day. He conveyed his best wishes to all former pioneers.
It is worth noting that the event was attended by 450 delegates from 32 countries. Participants discussed current global issues. A large conference was held on international security, problems of Central Asia, and prospects for relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, including in the investment sphere.
