Kirsan Ilyumzhinov: Russia and African countries have signed contracts for 800 billion roubles

The first president of Kalmykia, the sixth president of FIDE, said by telephone from Sochi that the Russian Federation and African countries signed over 50 contracts worth more than 800 billion roubles at the Russia-Africa summit in Sochi (about $ 12.5 billion).

“The tremendous success of the summit!” said Ilyumzhinov. “Just imagine, over 35 official events took place in Sochi in two days and more than one and a half thousand business meetings were held!”

 Recall that the First Russia-Africa Summit was held in Sochi on 23-24 October. The leaders of fifty African countries attended it.

According to Kirsan Nikolayevich, the Summit was attended by more than a hundred foreign states and territories, not only African ones. Therefore, the USA, Great Britain, France, Australia and Canada sent their representatives. In total, more than six thousand people came to the forum, he noted.
And he added that in total about six thousand people participated in the Summit out of which 1.9 thousand are foreign representatives, and 1.4 thousand are representatives of Russian business. Also, the forum was attended by more than 40 state leaders and more than 120 ministers from various countries.
On the last day of the summit, 24 October, Russian leader Vladimir Putin attended a plenary meeting. During the forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Russia's plans to increase its presence in Africa. He also added that Moscow has forgiven African states’ $ 20 billion debt.
On 24 October, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the delegation of Benin and with the delegation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Minister of Water and Energy of the Congo Eustache Muhanzi Mubembe, and the representative of the Presidential Administration of the Congo Simon Siala.
