Kirsan Ilyumzhinov: “The death of General Soleimani will provoke retaliatory violence”

The killing of the head of the special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) General Qasem Soleimani by the Americans at the Baghdad airport will aggravate the crisis in the region, destroy the existing balance of forces and, most likely, provoke retaliatory violence. That’s what a Russian politician Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told to NG.

“The assassination of General Soleimani will not help resolve the problems. On the contrary, it will only aggravate them. We see today the destruction by Western countries of the already fragile political balance in the region. The consequences are unpredictable,” said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. - You can’t kill people without trial, only bandits and terrorists do this.

No state can solve problems with the help of terror, let alone superpowers possessing atomic weapons. It must be understood that you cannot drive peoples and countries into reservations by violence, as was done with the Indians. In response to violence, only violence can be obtained. The sad experience of "exporting democracy" to Iraq, Libya and Syria it the proof."

In December 2019, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited Tehran several times, where he met with prominent Iranian businessmen and politicians.
