The head of FIDE meets with the mayor of Sochi

March 30, the President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and IMSA met with the Mayor of Sochi, Anatoly Pakhomov. The head of FIDE noted the high level of organization and conduct of the two most prestigious chess tournaments - the 2014 Championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand and the 2015 Women's World Cup.

Both parties expressed confidence that the international school teams tournament "The White Rook" in June 2016 and the World Championship among schoolchildren in Sochi would also be held at appropriate level.

In addition, the arrangements have been made for the re-commencement of the functioning of the pavilion in the park "Riviera" where the Chigorin Memorial was once held and the construction of the chess center.
It is assumed that the Chess Academy and the branch of International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) will be located in this building. Thus, an intellictual multifunctional center will be established in the Olympic capital of Russia.
