Ilyumzhinov denies rumours about the transfer of the Chess Championship match to Russia

On 19th of April, the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov denied information about a possible postponement of the match between Norwegian Magnus Carlsen and Russian Sergey Karjakin for the title of the Chess Champion.

"I hear about it for the first time. The Moscow FIDE office held a meeting on the match yesterday. I do not know who started this hoax but the game will take place on schedule - in New York from 10 to 30 November 2016 ", said Ilyumzhinov.

"The Mayor wrote to me that he was anticipating that event. We are considering Trump Tower and a proposal from one of the museums as the premise. We have other available options and they are all in New York", stressed the head of FIDE.
Ilyumzhinov also said that the FIDE delegation will visit New York for institutional negotiations next week.
Earlier, the Norwegian TV channel NRK reported that the match for the World Chess Crown could be transferred from New York to Moscow or Sochi, ostensibly because of an insufficient level of prize fund.
