On July 7, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the head of Yakutia Yegor Borisov. The parties have exchanged gifts, after which the Yakut leader awarded the honorary guest the state decoration "For Strengthening Peace and Friendship between People."

"As far drafts are concerned, your Republic can successfully play against the whole planet. You have the highest number of award winning players, an appropriate basis and well-formed tradition, and, most importantly, - talented children", said Ilyumzhinov. In his turn, Borisov did not rule out the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation with FIDE.

During the talks, parties discussed the opening of the FIDE office in Yakutsk, holding the prestigious chess tournaments and the chess development in nomadic schools.
