Candidate for post of head of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Selivanov: "It is time for changes in Russian chess"

"The decision to run for presidency of the Russian Chess Federation (RCF) is caused by the desire to make a difference for the better," the candidate for post of head of the federation, ex-president of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Selivanov told RIA Novosti.

"I decided to be nominated to the presidency of the Russian Chess Federation as it is time for changes in Russian chess," Selivanov said on the phone. "This is also due to the fact that the RCF does not nominate Kirsan Ilyumzhinov as President of FIDE. It would have been a logical move but, instead, there is some kind of fuss for some reason. It is absurd that we have reached the point that Russia does not have its own candidates and does not support the acting head of FIDE."

"At the supervisory board meeting of the Russian Chess Federation on December 16, I specifically raised the issue of Ilyumzhinov's nomination," Selivanov stressed. "This needs to be fixed at congress of the Russian Chess Federation. But my proposal was not supported by Filatov. And there is much dissatisfaction regarding lack of normal work with regions and administrative pressure instead of support."
