Ilyumzhinov: "I met with Gaddafi in the last days of his life"

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi a few days before his murder. The President of FIDE told that to ‘Interfax’ at the press conference on March 3.
"I was the last one of the international leaders who met the Colonel Gaddafi. He was trying to get message with my assistance across to the leaders of the member states of NATO to stop bombing and killing the ordinary citizens and that he was ready to start the process of peaceful democratic changes in the country", - said Ilyumzhinov.

The head of FIDE also stressed that he believed that World Chess Championship, held in Tripoli in the summer of 2004, was one of the best in terms of organization and comfort for participants and guests.
