Working and informal meetings of Ilyumzhinov in Tunisia

Late on the evening of November 4, the fifth annual chess festival of French-speaking countries ended in Hammamet. This time it gathered over 240 players from 21 countries, representatives of four continents.

For the first time, the Festival was held this year under the high patronage of the French institution for Development and Francophonie and was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Tunisian Chess Federation. For the first time ever, French-speaking Africa was widely represented in this competition.

At the closing ceremony, FIDE President congratulated the Tunisian Chess Federation on the brilliant organization of the event and on the anniversary. Ilyumzhinov told about the results of his meeting with Minister of Youth and Sports of Tunisia, thanked the sponsors of the tournament and wished good luck to all those present.
The ceremony was also attended by President of Tunisian Chess Federation Tahar Battikh, President of the Chess Association of French-speaking countries Patrick van Holland and FIDE Chief Executive Officer Geoffrey Borg. The ceremony ended with a grandiose show in the style of "One Thousand and One Nights."
At the end of the chess festival, the head of FIDE awarded the winner -- Grandmaster, Vice President of the Albanian Football Association Erald Dervishi. The winner of the women's tournament Nino Maisuradze, representing France, was also awarded.
Joyful was the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Libya, friend and fellow student of FIDE President Ivan Nikolayevich Molotkov.
Particularly noteworthy is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, which Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited on November 4. You can observe interiors and the most beautiful internal decoration of the Church on the photos on this website. There are photos of the rector of the church Archpriest Dmitri Netsvetayev, RF Ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia Sergey Nikolaev and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ.
