FIDE head visits the closing ceremony of the Rosgvardia Chess Championship

On March 22, the Rosgvardia Chess Championship ended in the independent operational purpose division named after Felix Dzerzhinsky in Balashikha near Moscow. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made a welcoming speech at the closing ceremony and awarding the championship winners.

13 teams, representing the central apparatus, districts and military institutions of the Russian National Guard, joined the tournament. Also participating in the championship were servicemen of the independent operational purpose division and students of the Sholokhov Moscow Presidential Cadet School.

According to the results of the championship, a serviceman of the Central District, Sergeant Andrey Markin, won the victory, his colleague Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Golovko took the second place, and a serviceman of the North Caucasus region sergeant Arkady Dzhurko took the last place.
Representatives of the Central District won the team gold, Guards from the Urals District took the second place and the team of the Siberian District won the bronze.
Chairman of Rosgvardia Sport Committee Colonel Vladimir Malofeev and President of the International Chess Federation of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov presented winners cups and medals.
Separately, cadets of the Sholokhov Moscow Presidential Cadet School were awarded "For Will to Win" badges.
On the same day, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government on sports, tourism and youth policy Vitaly Mutko. The meeting was held in productive atmosphere of mutual interest.
