On October 9, the famous Berlin Kino International Conference opening ceremony of the FIFA World Rapid and Blitz. There was also presented the film "Pawn Sacrifice" - the "Match of the Century" in 1972 between Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer.
A notable fact was the presence at the ceremony of the 10th World Chess Champion. The evening was opened by president of the German Chess Federation Herbert Bashtian. In his welcoming speech the head of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov declared the championship open. The world champion Magnus Carlsen also gave a speech. Boris Spassky drew lots of color.
The ceremony continued watching the film with Hollywood stars. Spectators were delighted with the film.
The event was attended by President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov, the 15th world champion Viswanathan Anand and other representatives of the beau monde of chess.
