Dear FIDE President Mr. Ilyumzhinov! On behalf of Magnus Carlsen, his family and myself I want to thank you for the greeting in regard to Magnus' win in NYC.
It was a hard fought struggle and Magnus was obviously both relieved and happy for managing to win in the end.
It was good to see all the attention the match got in the media and I believe the Championship motivated people around the world to take up new interest in chess.
We want to use the opportunity to thank all the people involved in organising the match for their efforts and for taking good care of Magnus and his team during the stay in NYC.
