The Organizing Committee of the World Championship in Ukraine Includes The Head of FIDE

On 11th of August, a decree was signed by the President of Ukraine, Petr Poroshenko calling for the formation of the committee that would organise the Women’s World Chess Champion match in Ukraine in 2016. The Committee included the FIDE President, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Boris Lozhkin, the Deputy Head of APU of Ukraine, Rostislav Pavlenko, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Igor Zhdanov, the President of the Ukrainian Chess Federation, Viktor Kapustin, the Chairman of Lviv Regional Chess Federation, Taras Kernitsky, the representatives of the Government and the ‘Verkhovna Rada’, the heads of the law enforcement institutions, the Mayor of Lviv and the Head of the Lviv Region.

Документом также определен порядок работы оргкомитета и утверждения решений. The decree outlined the work procedure of the organizing committee and the approvals of resolutions. The organisation’s administrative support was assigned to the Presidential Administration (whose leader is also Head of the Committee).
As previously reported, on the initiative of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the final match of the Women’s World Chess Championship between the current World Champion, Maria Muzychuk and the contender for this title Chinese, Hou Yifan will be held in Lviv in February or March 2016.
