Ilyumzhinov sends his greetings to participants of the children tournament "Chess Olympus"

Children Tournament "Chess Olympus", organized by the Pedagogical Chess Union, was held in the ‘Seventh Heaven’ restaurant in the Ostankino television tower.

On February 18, 50 children from different schools in Moscow started the competition. All participants were divided into five age groups, children of which played 7 rounds with the 10 minutes time-control before the end of a game. Parents could watch the fight remotely on video screens and with mobile phones.

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has sent a greeting letter to young chess players, which, inter alia, states:
"Chess combines art, science, and perfected logic. Chess contribute to the development of intelligence. This is the one of the most beloved and respected sports not only in our country but also in the world. It is developed by outstanding people, whose names are inscribed in golden letters in the history of mankind. Chess is a way of life, school of life, and for some people it is the life itself.
Therefore, achievements of the children who take part in such competitions are the cause of our common pride. Our hopes are tied with them.
I am very pleased that Ostankino TV tower, which is one of the tallest buildings in Europe, was chosen as the venue of the tournament. I wish you health, inspiration and brilliant victories. Success, good luck and purposefulness!
