The leadership of FSBI supported Ilyumzhinov's initiative. It was decided to sign an agreement with the International Chess Federation. In his turn, the deputy expressed confidence that the tournament for FIDE President's Cup will become traditional and will take a worthy place in the schedule of inter-university competitions.
On October 3, the meeting of FIDE Presidential Adviser Dmitry Davurov with the head of FSBI "Management of St. Petersburg Interuniversity Campus" Alexander Belokobylsky and a deputy of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Sergei Kupchenko was held.
The adviser conveyed Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's wish to hold prestigious chess competitions among the universities in the northern capital including FIDE President's Cup.
