FIDE head visits Tunisia on a business trip

On January 20, FIDE president arrived in Tunisia and went to the resort town of Sousse, where congress of the African Chess Confederation is taking place. The confederation joins 47 of 54 countries on the continent. At the airport Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was met by state secretary of Tunisia Sport Ministry Imed Jabri and leaders of the Tunisian Chess Federation. On the same day, Ilyumzhinov visited zonal sessions of the ACC Executive Committee.

On January 21, the ACC General Assembly began its work. Within two days, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov held a number of working meetings with heads of national chess federations.
The meetings were attended by President of the Namibian Chess Federation Otto Nakapunda, Zonal President Samir Zerdali, President of the Algerian Chess Federation Azzedine Brahim Djelloul and Vice President of the Moroccan Chess Federation Abdelmula Lemsyoui. Also present were Zonal President, President of Cameroon Chamber of Commerce Michelle Viang, Vice President of the Senegal Chess Federation Usman Ou, President of the Gambia Chess Federation Amadou Jellau and President of the Mauritius Chess Federation Harrinain Bovani.
During the visit, FIDE head met with major sports functionaries, including President of the Sierra Leone CF Anzuman Kamar, President of the Burkina Faso CF Arno Quedraogo, Secretary General of the ACC, President of the Togolese Football Federation Noel Fuumei, head of the Seychelles CF Benjamin Oaro, President of the CF of Zambia Ericho Nshikokola, President of Kenya CF Benar Vanyala, Technical Director of the Zimbabwe CF Simbarashe Murimi, Vice President of the Mozambique CF Milton Botao, President of the Uganda CF Emanuel Emmanuel Mwaka and President of the Botswana CF Motokomedy Tabano. FIDE President also met with the presidents of chess federations of Malawi, Egypt, Somalia, Djibouti and other countries. At the end of the first day, an evening show in Tunisian style was organized.
