Ilyumzhinov Meets with the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation

The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, returning from an overseas business trip from Dubai, where he took part in the closing ceremony of the Arab Chess Championship, met with the Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko in Moscow on June 5th.
According to the press service of Ilyumzhinov, the most topical issues of the international sports movement were discussed at the meeting.

Incidentally, Vitaly Mutko and the head of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov congratulated the head of FIDE with the election to the board of the influential international organization uniting more than 100 sports federations ‘Sport Accord’ last spring.
Ilyumzhinov said later -“Vitaly Leontjevich was first to congratulate me.  Since I am the only representative of Russia in this important sports organization, it is expected of me that I will actively represent the interests of our country.  In addition, I was asked to act as a peacemaker between the IOC and the "Sport Accord", considering that the relationship between them have slightly worsened.  Also, since I am a politician and conduct more than a hundred negotiations with the politicians of different countries and levels, the head of "Sport Accord" Marius Vizer has asked me to use my influence for the promotion of sports”.
