Ilyumzhinov Gives a Press Conference in Baku

On 9th of September, The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Baku, where he gave a press conference on the World Cup that starts in Baku tomorrow.

This event was also attended by the head of the Chess Federation and the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov; the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov; the Vice-President of Chess Federation, the head of the working group of the Organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the World Cup and the World Chess Olympiad Mahir Mammadov and the Vice President of the Chess Federation Faig Hasanov.  All of them answered the numerous questions of the journalists.

Afterwards, the participants of the Conference visited the game room to check its readiness for the tournament.  After that, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Azad Rahimov played a friendly game of chess, which ended in a draw.
It is worth reminding that the World Cup prize is 1.6 million US Dollars.
