On March 6, in Moscow, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov held a working meeting with Minister of Tourism and Crafts of Tunisia, Salma Elloumi Rekik. FIDE President told her about cooperation between the International Chess Federation and Tunisia.
Ilyumzhinov also told about his visits to this beautiful country, washed in the north and east by the gentle Mediterranean Sea. He spoke about meetings with officials and recent chess events and tournaments: the 5th championship of francophone countries, the African Chess Confederation Congress and much more.
As is known, FIDE recently announced a tender for the 2022 World Chess Olympiad. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing the Tournament of Nations and other important FIDE competitions in Tunisia. Besides, the Tournament of Nations has not yet been held in Africa.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. It was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Tunisian Republic to Russia Mohammed Ali Shiha and representative of the Tunisian National Tourist Office Neji Gouider.
