FIDE Head’s working trip to Africa continues

On 21 April, FIDE President, continuing his trip to the African continent, arrived in the Republic of Ghana. In Accra, the capital of Ghana, he met with the President and General Secretary of Ghana Chess Federation. The president of FIDE was presented with a national costume in memory of the visit.

The President of the Ghana Chess Federation Philip Elikem Ameku and its leaders joined discussion on the development and promotion of the famous programmes "Chess in schools" and "Chess in villages". Ilyumzhinov warmly thanked the host for the gift and enthusiasm for the development of chess in Ghana and on the African continent.

On 22 April, the head of FIDE opened a children's chess school in the village of Boca as part of the "Chess in Villages" programme. In memory of the trip, Ilyumzhinov was photographed in a national costume in Togo desert.
