On 30 May, the head of FIDE sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov. The letter reads as follows:

"Dear Stanislav Alekseevich! I heartily congratulate you on your election to the post of the President of the Russian Olympic Committee.
Your electoral victory has become a true assessment of your work for the benefit of the Olympic movement and testifies to the recognition of your experience, the ability to make compromises and achieve your goals. I am sure that your activity in this post will contribute to the further traditional and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Russian Olympic Committee and the International Chess Federation (FIDE). This, of course, will have a most positive impact on the development and popularization of chess not only in our country, but also on the international arena.
