On 1 December, a large prayer service and the ignition ceremony of thousands of lamps dedicated to Zul holiday will take place in the famous Khosheutovsky Khurul located in the village of Rechnoye, which celebrated its 200th anniversary this year.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated his fellow citizens on Zul holiday. The greeting reads as follows:
“Dear fellow countrymen, I congratulate you on Zul holiday! According to ancient tradition, our people solemnly celebrate this sacred for each Kalmyk day, which every family awaits with special trepidation. We associate this holiday with the fulfilment of good wishes, prosperity and success in the New Year.
In Kalmykia, Zul is celebrated as the end of one year and the beginning of another - the New Year. On this day, each person gets older by a year.
On 2 December, we will pray for happiness for our loved ones and make wishes for peace and harmony in our homes. Zul is the beginning of new achievements and the beginning of a New Year in every family.
Since childhood, each of us knows that Kalmyk families light the ceremonial lamps, bake sweet-smelling bortsoki, and brew unique Kalmyk tea on this day. May joy and happiness overwhelm our hearts.
May every family in Kalmykia spend Zul holiday with hope and faith in better future! May the coming year bring you and your loved ones happiness, luck and fulfilment of all your wishes!
May the joy, warmth and love of dear ones always surround you and never leave your home! I wish you all peace and prosperity, good luck and fulfilment of the most cherished desires! May the coming year be happy for everyone!”
