Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulates the participants of the National Guard Chess Championship

On 22 March, a separate division of operational assignment of the National Guard troops named after Felix Dzerzhinsky held the final stage of its chess championship. Representatives of the central office, districts, military institutes and cadet corps of the RosGuards fought for the title of chess winners as part of 17 teams.

The sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the RosGuards Colonel Vladimir Malofeev congratulated the tournament’s participants.

 

Championship’s winners were awarded with cups, certificates and valuable gifts.

The tournament was held according to the Swiss system with nine rounds. Starting from the second round, pairs of participants were determined by an equal number of points. This allowed them to exclude games where the opponent is obviously stronger than the opponent.
According to the results of the championship, the military staff of Felix Dzerzhinsky separate division turned out to be the winner. The second place was taken by representatives of the Central District of the RosGuards, and the team of the North-Western District won the bronze award.
In the individual championship there was no equal to Private Nikita Matinyan of Felix Dzerzhinsky separate division, The second place was taken by the representative of the Central District, Lieutenant Colonel Sergey Golovko. The representative of the central office Lieutenant Colonel Vadim Fedotov closed the top three.
Among the cadet corps places were distributed as follows:
1st place: Moscow Presidential Cadet School of the National Guard of the Russian Federation named after Mikhail Sholokhov;
2nd place: Perm Cadet Corps of the Volga Federal District named after the hero of Russia Fyodor Kuzmin;
3rd place: Ekaterinburg cadet corps of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.
