Kirsan Ilyumzhinov meets with President of the Pan-African Parliament Roger Nkodo Dang

On 1 July, the sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the President of the Pan-African Parliament Roger Nkodo Dang. “We discussed the organizational issues of my upcoming visit to African countries,” Kirsan Nikolayevich told our correspondent by telephone. It is expected that the sixth President of FIDE will visit about 12 countries in his African tour. In a recent speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of developing ties and cooperation with the African continent.

On the same day, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov together with the President of the Pan-African Parliament received representatives of African countries - members of the official delegation of the Pan-African Parliament (Cameroon, Kenya, South and North Sudan), who came there immediately after their visit to the Duma.
Recall that the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is a very influential structure for representatives of African countries. Incidentally, in March of this year exactly 15 years have passed since the day when the constituent session of the Pan-African Parliament -- one of the key bodies of the African Union -- opened in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
Russia, as is known, maintains friendly and business contacts with the Pan-African Parliament. It is planned that the Russia-Africa Inter-Parliamentary Conference will take place in the autumn of 2019.
