“As Kirsan Nikolayevich likes to repeat: “Chess is gymnastics for the mind.” Of course, it is very important that chess is introduced in elementary school as a compulsory subject. Schoolchildren from the early classes begin to inculcate love for this game, develop strategic thinking, predict the development of the future situation and, most importantly, form perseverance and purposefulness,” notes Alexander Kosov.
You can familiarize children with chess when they are 4-5 years old. At this age, of course, training will be more informational. They will learn to distinguish pieces and understand chess moves. More seriously, this sport is taught at school.
Now chess will be taught in every school by a teacher of physical education. To do this, if necessary, they will undergo refresher courses.
If a child shows himself well within at the school chess clubs, he would be advised to develop this skills. There are many clubs in our region, where young grandmasters are in demand. Also, there is a Centre for the Development of Intellectual Sports at the Belgorod State University further developing the chess skills.
Well, the objective is clear. Ilyumzhinov's project “A Billion Chess Players Means A Billion Smart People” is becoming a reality.
