Kirsan Ilyumzhinov meets with Iranian executive residing in Oman, Mehdi Burhuni

On August 21, the sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with an Iranian executive from Oman Mehdi Burhuni. Kirsan Nikolayevich said: “A friend, an Iranian executive from Oman, Mehdi Burhuni, came to visit me. We played chess and discussed joint projects.”

Recall that Ilyumzhinov and Burhuni already met in April this year in Tehran. Then the parties discussed a number of business projects: the supply of meat products from Russia and Mongolia to Iran, as well as the supply of Iranian commodities to Russia.

Recalling the April meeting, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said: “We talked about our project, launched back in 2000, of the Eurasia shipping channel (Manych shipping channel), in design of which three million dollars of private money was invested.

Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Iran are interested in this large-scale project.
The aim of the project is to connect the Caspian Sea with the Sea of Azov. It is like restoring the Great Silk Road.“ Apparently, negotiations are ongoing.
