On 6 October, the first president of Kalmykia, the sixth FIDE president, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of Sheikh Nahayan.
Ilyumzhinov paid a friendly visit to the UAE, where he took part in a gala reception in Abu Dhabi, in the palace of the ruler of the state.
In a telephone conversation with the editor of www.kirsan.today, Kirsan Nikolayevich emphasized that the meeting was very fruitful; they managed to discuss a number of business projects and talked about the development of chess in the region.
