Recall that back in 1995 Ilyumzhinov launched the Chess in Schools programme in the Republic of Kalmykia. This programme has had a very positive effect on children. They not only learned to play chess well, but the overall development of children also increased markedly.
Today, this programme works not only in many regions of Russia, but also in many countries of the world. We are especially pleased that the pupils of the Kalmyk chess school give such good results, achieve success and glorify Kalmykia and Russia.
During the meeting, Kirsan Nikolayevich presented Sofia with a FIDE gold badge and $ 1,000. Sofia’s father was not left without a gift. The first president of Kalmykia handed him gold cufflinks. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov wished Sofia further sports victories.
On 7 February, the first president of Kalmykia, the sixth president of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the winner of the 16th International Cup of the RSSU Moscow Open 2020 Sofia Kekeyeva and her father.
