Ilyumzhinov congratulates Buddhists on the holy month of Ypc Cap

On 23 May, the holy month of Ypc Cap (Saga Dawa) begins. This month accounts for the main events in the life of Buddha Shakyamuni (birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana). These are three greatest feats accomplished by the Great Teacher Buddha for the benefit of all living beings.

Buddhists will celebrate the Buddha’s birth (563 BC), enlightenment, and parinirvana. As you are aware, all these events occurred on the same day, with a difference between the first and last of 80 years. All khuruls will host solemn services, charity events, concerts, and festive treats for believers and laity.

The first president of Kalmykia, the sixth president of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated the Buddhists on this great holiday.

“I congratulate fellow countrymen and all Buddhists on the great holiday: the beginning of the holy month of Ypc Cap! The Buddha chose this sacred lunar month for his birth, enlightenment and parinirvana. Each of these events, according to historical sources, occurred on the 15th lunar day of the month of Ypc Cap. On this day, Donchod Khural is celebrated (“the day of a thousand offerings” celebrating the birth of Buddha Shakyamuni, his enlightenment and parinirvana), which is the culmination of the whole celebration of Ypc Cap.
With all my heart, I wish you health, prosperity and good luck! May the life of Buddha Shakyamuni become an example for us. May love and compassion for all living beings always live in our hearts. Please accept my sincere wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity!”
