July 20 is World Chess Day. On this day the International Chess Federation (FIDE) was founded in 1924.

Crimean Chess Federation annually celebrates its professional holiday. In 2020, the traditional unified Chess Day will take place on July 19. Everyone who wants to play this ancient game will play chess in city parks and embankments of Crimean cities.
The centre of the holiday will be Evpatoria. Here the celebration will begin on Saturday, July 18 and last until Sunday, July 19. The programme includes football matches, beach volleyball and, of course, chess.

Honorary and other guests of the holiday will be sixth president of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Minister of Sports of Crimea Olga Torubarova and mayor of Evpatoria Roman Tikhonchuk.  Chess players of the peninsula will enjoy this celebration.

Sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov accepted the invitation of the Executive Director of Crimean Chess Federation Lyubov Gordyk to visit the peninsula. His visit is scheduled for July 19, 2020. During his trip, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov plans to meet with leading Crimean chess players and amateur players in Evpatoria, then hold a press conference in Simferopol and meet with the leadership of the peninsula. On July 20, the sixth FIDE President plans to visit the hero city of Sevastopol.
Kirsan Nikolayevich visited Crimea many times. Chess players of Crimea have not forgotten the legendary World Youth Chess Olympiads, which were attended by players from more than 50 countries. They were held in 1999 and 2000 on the initiative of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov at "Artek" centre.
