Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrives in Evpatoria

On July 19, the International Chess Day is celebrated in Crimea. Crimean Chess Federation annually celebrates its professional holiday with various sports competitions.

On July 19 2020, on the eve of Chess Day, everyone can play this ancient game is in city parks or embankments of Crimean cities.
The centre of the holiday was Evpatoria. Here, the celebration is in full swing. The programme includes football matches, beach volleyball and, of course, chess.

 

Guests of honour are sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Crimean Sports Minister Olga Torubarova, Evpatoria’s mayor Roman Tikhonchuk.

During the visit, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is going to meet with the leading chess players of the Crimea and amateur players in Evpatoria. Later, he will hold a press conference in Simferopol and meet with the leadership of the peninsula.
On July 20, sixth FIDE President plans to visit the hero city of Sevastopol.
“I confirm that parents play an important role in chess education, as well as in the general education,” Ilyumzhinov said at a meeting with young chess players and their parents.
In Evpatoria, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was photographed with tourists from Kalmykia and Buryatia.
