In the interview, he stressed that Pakistan could not invest in Russia because of the outstanding debt to the USSR. At the sixth meeting of the Russian-Pakistani intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which took place in December 2019 in Islamabad, this legal issue was finally resolved.
“Pakistan repaid to Russia the debt of the former USSR. This great achievement opens up huge prospects for cooperation between our countries. Now we hope that the barrier has disappeared and new opportunities will open up for us,” the ambassador said. In addition to trade relations, Pakistan intends to resume students exchange with Russian universities. This will help to strengthen ties with Russia.
