Ilyumzhinov sends his best wishes to the older generation on the International Day for Older Persons

The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year. On December 14 1990, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day for Older Persons as recorded in Resolution 45/106. And since 1991, the Day for Older Persons has been observed all over the world.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov conveyed his best wished to all elderly people, chess movement veterans, war and labour veterans, representatives of the older generation of his small homeland Kalmykia:

Dear veterans, representatives of the older generation! Please accept my warmest, heartfelt wishes on the Day for Older Persons. We owe a lot to you who survived and won in difficult years of hard times and hardships, defended peace and freedom and made a huge contribution to the restoration and development of the economy.

All that I will say now is just a small fraction of the gratitude that you have earned for your disinterestedness and humanity, invaluable life experience that you have always shared with us.
Older people, you are our special pride! You have done a lot for our country, and we will always remember this. You have always generously given us love, care and attention; you have become the best parents and grandparents for us. You are the dearest people to whom we still turn for wise advice, help and support.
I sincerely wish you good health for many years, love, care and attention of your loved ones! I wish you success, prosperity and happiness! May your life be bright, filled only with pleasant events and may there always be loving and caring children, grandchildren and friends with you.
