Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visits the Russian Boxing Federation

On November 3, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with Advisor to the Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Sergey Karev to discuss some commercial issues. The meeting was also attended by winner of the bronze medal of the 1996 Summer Olympics and the silver 2000 Summer Olympics, bronze medallist of the 1994 Goodwill Games Raimkul Malakhbekov.

Malakhbekov is also a two-time world champion (1995 and 1997), two-time European champion (1993 and 2002) and five-time champion of Russia (1993-1997). He is an Honoured Master of Sports of Russia, who is currently working with Chingiz Natyrov. Fans call Natyrov the “Kalmyk diamond”. Sports commentators note that he "shows beautiful, and most importantly, mature boxing."

During the meeting, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met young boxers and wished them victories in all their endeavours. According to Ilyumzhinov, boxing as a child allowed him to temper his character to achieve any goals.

Sixth FIDE President shared his impressions of this meeting with our correspondent: “To achieve good results in boxing, you need to be well developed not only on physical level. You need to be able to think and calculate all the options for a fight.
As a child, I really loved boxing. I took part in our city championship. However, good chess results influenced my decision to focus on one kind of sport in high school."
