On February 4, first President of Kalmykia, sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov took part in the opening of the Roscongress Chess Cup.
The Roscongress Chess Cup kicked off at the Central House of Writers in Moscow. It was attended by a well-known entrepreneur and chess organizer, founder of the Moscow chess club Vladimir Palikhata and deputy dean of the law faculty of Moscow State University Alexander Korneev, Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Savchenko and President of the Moscow Chess Federation Sergey Lazarev.
The special guest of the opening ceremony of the Roscongress Chess Cup was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Russia Mr Seyed Jawad
